D.W. Simerly is a writer and college English instructor living in Florence, Alabama. He has taught Freshman writing at the University of North Alabama and Technical English at J.F. Ingram State Technical College. His award-winning fiction has appeared in Wingspan and Kinsman Quarterly. D.W. was also the 2025 winner of the Association of College English Teachers of Alabama’s William J. Calvert award. He is a enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma.
